Half of the proceeds from the Friday performance will support the Sally Kate Winters Family Services and the organization鈥檚 Transitional Living Program.

First published on Dec. 19, 1843, Dickens wrote 鈥淎 Christmas Carol鈥 at a time when Britain was examining Christmas traditions from the past, such as carols, as well as exploring new customs, such as Christmas trees. The first edition sold out before Christmas Eve, just six days later.

The beloved story was written with the intent of bringing attention to the plight of England鈥檚 poor. With every famous 鈥淏ah! Humbug!鈥 audiences can relive the classical tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his encounters with the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
